Support Worker

Nature of the Work:

The support worker assists autistic individuals in TUO programs by leading educational, social, and recreational activities. They ensure participants’ well-being, safety, and inclusion in the community.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead group or individual activities.
  • Support participants in daily life activities.
  • Observe behaviors and produce observation notes.
  • Participate in needs assessments and implementation of intervention plans.
  • Support interventions.


Requirements:

  • Student in a college or university-level social intervention field.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Teamwork.
  • Rigor and autonomy.

Educator

Nature of the Work:

The educator is responsible for organizing and leading learning and specialized intervention activities for autistic individuals, according to established programs, in collaboration with coordinators.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Apply specialized intervention techniques.
  • Organize and lead activities.
  • Prepare necessary materials and support participants.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of intervention plans.
  • Produce progress reports and participate in team meetings.

 

Autism Awareness Component:

In addition to their clinical role, the educator contributes to awareness efforts by equipping families, schools, and community settings with knowledge about autism. They help disseminate best practices and promote an inclusive culture, reinforcing TUO’s role as an autism hub.

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma in a social intervention field.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Teamwork.
  • Rigor and autonomy.
  • Adaptability.

Coordinator

Nature of the Work:

The coordinator supervises intervention teams, ensures service quality, and maintains consistency in educational actions. They act as a resource person for families, partners, and the team, and provide clinical supervision.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop intervention plans in collaboration with educators.
  • Provide clinical support to the educational team.
  • Determine tasks, schedules, and priorities for educators.
  • Ensure communication among stakeholders (families, partners, management).
  • Manage complex situations and support teams.
  • Ensure compliance with budgets and organizational values.


Autism Awareness Component:

The coordinator plays a strategic role in implementing awareness initiatives and developing TUO as an autism hub. They coordinate initiatives such as the Info-Advice Line, awareness campaigns, partnerships with schools and community organizations, and help disseminate the organization’s expertise regionally.


Requirements:

  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with autistic individuals.
  • Good knowledge of the community, school, or health networks.
  • Rigor and autonomy.
  • Organizational and coordination skills.
  • Clinical leadership.
