Trait d’Union Outaouais is an ideal internship environment for anyone interested in the social integration of autistic people and support for their families.  

If your postsecondary education program requires you to implement a special project or go through an internship, Trait d’Union Outaouais will gladly take a look at your request. Please note that our needs may vary according to ongoing programs and priorities. After completing their internship, our interns are frequently hired for regular positions.

Education programs in specialized education, psychoeducation, or related field 

Trait d’Union Outaouais prioritizes the hiring of interns studying in special education or psychoeducation to support interventions within our groups. We provide our interns with varied and interesting training activities (autism, non-violent intervention in crisis situations, etc.) to help refine their practical knowledge in caring for autistic people. TUOI requires interns to be available on weekend days and some evenings during the week.

Master’s Degree in Psychoeducation 

Trait d’Union Outaouais also welcomes interns studying at the master’s level in psychoeducation and can collaborate with them for their projects. Here are a few examples of master’s degree internship projects completed with TUOI in recent years: 

• Providing a program for self-knowledge and autism diagnosis for teenagers 

• Survey of Trait d’Union Outaouais member families’ needs 

• Development of a support program for TUOI groups and a developmental grid for autistic youths
